Elijah

E l i j a h
The hairy Tishbite, or as Ahab the king called him,
"the troubler of Israel".
And he was trouble for Ahab and the false prophets of Baal. God raised up Elijah during a time of spiritual decline. Ahab's wife Jezebel had most of God's prophets killed and Elijah was constantly on the look out, and often on the move. He was a fiery man of faith who brought the Israelites to their knees when he prayed that it would not rain. The sky became like bronze and there came a famine. After three and a half years he prayed again. His servant said, "Behold, a cloud as small as a man's hand is coming up out of the sea." original oil (prints 14"x 18")

The Cutter "Bear"

The ice Cutter "Bear" was built in 1874 in Scotland as a seal hunting ship and used for arctic exploration. It became famous when it was purchased by the U.S. government & sent to rescue the Greely Expedition which was stranded without supplies in the far north. Using blueprints from the Smithsonian this ivory model was built for Mel Quakenbush of Fairbanks, Alaska by Dale Brown. It is made of both walrus & mastadon ivory with baleen cap rail and it rests on a slab of jade. It is about 2' long.
